[21:11] dorion: nekoluce, that's bs. how could she have taught them if she lived 700+ of years after them ?
[21:20] nekoluce: yeah you are right dorion seems my research was out of boundaries

[04:13] jfw: nekoluce: wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darueber muss man schweigen.
[06:16] jfw: or to put it more softly perhaps - there's figuring out what is said, and then there's figuring out what's true; the first is a discipline enough in its own right, i.e. real work, to be done properly, but it's still not to be confused with the second

[15:57] whaack: dorion: thx, i'm aware the explorer is stuck again and will try to attend to it in the next week
[15:57] whaack: also yes i am potentially interested in renting a box from jwrd

[23:49] jfw: whaack: http://jfxpt.com/2026/jwrd-logs-for-Mar-2026/#15585 - if it's for a block explorer node, what I'll need from you is to decide on a 2.5" SATA SSD model, OS, and bandwidth allocation. I don't have a pricing model for apu1 leasing, mostly because the space isn't set up to run a whole lot of them, and most of the labor is in the initial build; perhaps we could do it as a one-time setup fee.

[04:36] jfw: After many labors, Gales Linux '26 is out and signed! I expect to write up what's new and some kind of upgrading guide, but it may be a while yet.
[04:36] jfw: gah, that would be the link to '24.

[04:48] jfw: Biggest additions are MySQL 5.6 and Apache 2.4; also some first NTP support via djb's clockspeed suite, extended with some new tricks.
[13:58] dorion: jfw, awesome, congrats !

[01:20] whaack: congrats jfw, i don't think i'll (ever) updates my comps that are used for financial matters , but if i can find time i'll partition my machine running centos and try to install the newest gales there
[02:36] jfw: whaack: cool, let me know how it goes

[20:10] jfw: http://jfxpt.com/2026/jwrd-logs-for-Mar-2026/#15590 - it's already going to need a patch release, as a syntax error in /etc/rc snuck past the eagle type eyes of the QA department. Apparently they only tested system updates, not the full install from zero. It doesn't break the boot but does defeat the new feature, which was meant to set up a /dev/rtc symlink to work around a chain of linux

[20:10] jfw: stupidities.
[20:12] jfw: otherwise, I'm pretty close to a full scripted install process for deploying new VM guests for the hosting service.

  1. Great to see the updates on Gales Linux '26. Could you point me towards some context for the #jwrd logs? I'm interested in learning how I might contribute or best stay informed about the project's next steps.

  2. Hi @semidiqs. There's the channel per se ; meanwhile it gained a bot that handles key registration and WoT ratings ; there's background on JWRD besides the current site ; there's background on Gales and then its category link for more.

And could you share some context on who you are?
