This is a Fixpoint mirror of the IETF RFC collection, ensuring its permanent availability on the plain-text Web (or whatever may some day arise as its legitimate heir). It is not intended to be updated frequently.
Due to its large size and file count, and the number of useless bots around, contents are not directly linked here. To search the collection, see rfc-index.txt (1.9M), then find the desired file in this same directory at rfcN.FMT where N is the index number (unpadded) and FMT is an available format as shown in the index entry: one of txt, pdf or ps.
For example, the index shows:
0020 ASCII format for network interchange. V.G. Cerf. October 1969. (Format: TXT, PDF, HTML) (Also STD0080) (Status: INTERNET STANDARD) (DOI: 10.17487/RFC0020)
Since the HTML conversions are not included here, the resulting URLs are rfc20.txt and rfc20.pdf.
The construction process for this collection, should you wish to reproduce it:
$ wget https://www.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/tar/RFC-all.tar.gz - ref: https://www.rfc-editor.org/retrieve/bulk/ $ tar xf RFC-all.tar.gz - extracts directly to current directory. $ rm -f *.json - added starting 2019-10-28; largely redundant with rfc-index.txt. $ rm -f *.html - added starting 2019-05-02, autogenerated; saves ~650M. $ rm -f *.xml - new-format sources, added starting 2019-11-17 with rfc8650; saves ~100M. $ rm RFC-all.tar.gz - when satisfied.
The current resulting size is ~820M, of which 497M .txt, 288M .pdf and 32M .ps.
Upstream update timestamps are found in a/ftp/in-notes/tar/readme.txt as well as rfc-index.txt.
